Laguna de Bacalar

Bacalar Lake

Also known as "Lake of  seven colors"

 

The most famous attraction is that the lake has different astonishing colors in different areas. It is one of the most beautiful natural water formations in Mexico. About 52 kilometers long and 2 kilometers wide, it is a unique place for swimming, diving, and snorkeling. The crystal-clear water is definitely worthy of your visit.

Fuerte San Felipe

One of the best places to catch a brilliant view of Bacalar lake is San Felipe’s fort. Spanish built this incredibly ancient fortress to prevent the city from pirate's attack and now it’s a museum filled with historical pre-Hispanic, colonial weapons, maps, drawings, and more.

If you are curious about the pirate's history, come to San Felipe Fort is a good choice, welcome to the fort and become a protector of the city.

Casa de Cultura &

San Joaquin Church

These two places symbolized the history of Bacalar Town. San Joaquin Church was built in XVIII century, is one of the oldest churches in Quintana Roo.

La Casa de Cultura was constructed in the XIX century and rebuilt in 1990; it's one of the most significant colonial heritage, now locals have transformed it into an art workshop.
